Retro Surfboard – Michael Peterson | SURF SHOP

– Delicious
Retro Surfboard - Michael Peterson original Joe Larkin shape made for Michael crossed my hands the other day and nearly stuck to my hands like superglue.

Avid collector and Surfboard Tragic Darryl Homan was kind enough to show me through his collection of real Retro boards and he left this one to last. It actually is on loan to him from Carl Turner of Finch Swimwear fame.
This little gem of a board is in better condition than the photo shows (that's me stuck to it) and it has Michaels name on the bottom clear as day. This is the one he features in the iconic movie "Morning of the Earth" by film maker legend Albert (Alby) Falzon and if your good at stop frame on your DVD player, you will see the Joe Larkin sticker across the bottom making it easy to verify. By the way Joe Larkin was Queenslands first board manufacturer starting out in 1959/60 and cruising into the forever legend time. His biggest fan was Michael Peterson.

For the nostalgic Retro sufferers I've included a couple of "Morning of the Earth" clips and a photo of the "original Michael Peterson" (above) surfboard use through out the film.

[caption id="attachment_2833" align="aligncenter" width="615"]Julian Wilson Wins Julian Wilson, our local boy takes the spoils[/caption]
The local Coolum boy Julian Wilson Wins, the ASP Prime Mr Price Pro Ballito, beating Jordy Smith, from Cape Town, in a Final to remember at Willard’s Beach on Saturday July 6, 2013.
The ASP Prime Series ended up with the most anticipated match-up of this year’s competition - event standouts, Jordy and Julian, lived up to the crows expectations with inspired performances.
Julian said after the event “I’m really happy to get the win! It’s my third time in Durban and I’ve had a good result each time. I really enjoy it here, it’s a great place with friendly people”.
Julian said of this win he “needed to put everything on the line”, completing an extremely critical Alley Oop maneuver to score the first perfect 10 of this year’s Mr Price Pro Ballito competition and followed that up with a 8.93 slob grab reverse aerial maneuver.
Julian cemented his win with that and was chaired up the beach as the deserved 2013 Mr Price Pro Ballito Champion.

Footnotes:-
“It was an honour to surf in the final against Julian, I’m just sorry I didn’t win it,” Smith Said. “Julian stuck that air and it was amazing. I went on a trip to Reunion with him and he tried it a million times and didn’t make it and then he goes into the final and sticks it first time!”

The Australian contingent proved the most dominant on the final day of competition, with Stu Kennedy and Mitch Crews reaching the semi finals and placing equal third respectively.

Stereotypes in the Workplace

Stereotypes in the Workplace
I'm thinking that Kirsty in some peoples minds just doesn't fit what some see as the stereotype of a surfy kind of girl, that would typically work in a Surf Shop, not being one that easily fits in with the language and the look. Yes, she is definitely not the surfy looking kind of girl. That's just the point I'm making to the 2%,... Just because a shop assistant doesn't look the part, doesn't mean...read more at  www.surf-shop.org
And now a little light relief...enjoy the klip!

Great vid but its fake, and you can see that because the waves come from Sydney Harbour Bridge Parramatta direction, not the ocean direction. Decide for yourself.
